The Jazz Arts Foundation, Inc. is deeply saddened to report that Charter Member and long time Board of Director, Frank Hamilton, passed away the morning of September 16, 2016. Frank and his wife, Helen, were staunch supporters of JAF and Jazz music and Frank will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Click HERE for the Lexington Herald-Leader obituary.
Thursday, September 8, 2016 brought The Randy Villars Band to the Central Branch of Lexington, KY library for the 113th concert of the Jazz: Live at the Library! Series, hosted by The Jazz Arts Foundation, Inc. and sponsored by Jamey Aebersold Jazz. I arrived late, but better late than not at all, for I could have missed an excellent introduction to Randy Villars, who blessed the stage of The Farish Theater as the 195th individual musician to play in this series. The Jazz Arts Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, educational organization whose mission is “to enhance the awareness of Jazz as a performing art.” Since its establishment in 1989, the Foundation has published newsletters, coordinated jazz calendars, awarded educational scholarships and sponsored many jazz events and performances.
