CURRENT AND FUTURE REGIONAL JAZZ HAPPENINGS

KENTUCKY

Saturday, November 18: The Norton Center for the Arts presents Henry Butler at 8PM in the Weisiger Theater, 600 West Walnut St., Danville, KY. Tickets are on sale now at $28 to $38 by either calling 1-877-HIT-SHOW or on their website. Click HERE for more information. When it comes to jazz and blues, New Orleans is the city that gave and then kept on giving. The musical breeding ground for such giants of traditional jazz as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton, The Big Easy also gave rise to a present-day giant, the pianist and singer Henry Butler – a super virtuoso and ebullient performer who embodies the buoyant spirit of his birthplace. Butler can play it all, from early to modern jazz, with plenty of New Orleans R&B peeking through. Click HERE for a PDF with more information. Remember, JAF members receive a 15% discount.

2018

Thursday, March 1:  The Norton Center for the Arts presents The Tierney Sutton Band The Sting Variations at 7:30 PM in the Weisiger Theater, 600 West Walnut St., Danville, KY. Tickets are on sale now at $39 to $49 by either calling 1-877-HIT-SHOW or on their website. Click HERE for more information. Vocalist and eight-time Grammy®-nominee Tierney Sutton has been recording for almost three decades. She is known for her lush singing of American standards and her genuine love for music and people, and in her most recent album, she explores the musical legacy of Singer/Songwriter Sting. Last year’s The Sting Variations, which brilliantly transforms highly creative meditations on the songs of Sting and the Police, was nominated for “Best Jazz Vocal Album” during the 2017 Grammy®-Awards. That album will be the focus of her Norton Center performance debut. Click HERE for a PDF with more information. Remember, JAF members receive a 15% discount.
