JAZZ THEMED "FOREVER" STAMP ISSUED MARCH 26, 2011
On March 26, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Postal Service™ issued a Jazz commemorative stamp (Forever® priced at 44-cents), in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps. The stamp was designed by Howard E. Paine, Delaplane, Virginia.

The U.S. Postal Service® is proud to pay tribute to jazz, America's musical gift to the world, and to the musicians who play it on festival stages as well as in studios, clubs and concert halls. Art Director, Howard Paine, designed the stamp to showcase the work of Paul Rogers, an artist living in Pasadena, California. In creating the art for the stamp, originally using ink on paper and then finishing his work digitally, Rogers explored the way images could become a visual equivalent of jazz music. He was inspired by the cover art from vintage jazz record albums — work that captured the music's improvisational quality while built on a clear understanding of its underlying structure.

Immediate Opportunity Available for your personal involvement
Currently there are openings on our Board of Directors for several enthusiastic people who would like to make a direct impact on the future of jazz in Kentucky. Won't you please consider providing us with your expertise, time and energy to benefit our jazz community? The minimum requirements to be a board member are that you must be a current member of JAF in good standing and be willing to attend at least 9 of the 12 monthly meetings held the 1st Wednesday of each month from 7 - 8 PM. (Go to the About JAF page on this site for 2010 meeting places.) We are an all-volunteer "working" board, so you will be expected to serve on at least one committee for various projects throughout the year; but the time you spend will usually be minimal. And, you don't necessarily need to be a jazz fan to be on the board - we need men and women from all walks of life and with every skill.

2011 - 2012 OFFICERS ELECTED
The Jazz Arts Foundation elected new board members and officers at the April 2011 board meeting.  Check the About JAF page for the complete list of 2011 - 2012 board of directors and officers. If you are interested in being on the board, be sure to notify a current board member immediately.  We encourage all who are interested to please volunteer your services - you are needed to help our organization grow.
